How to let Octave start with the current directory equal to the current directory of the terminal?

I currently have (on a Windows 8 system)

  • C:Octave directory added to PATH
  • in this directory a file octave.bat which starts up octave-3.2.4.exe in the C:Octave.2.4_gcc-4.4.0bin directory
  • an octave startup script octaverc in C:Octave.2.4_gcc-4.4.0shareoctavesitemstartup which changes the octave working directory pwd to the directory where (most of) my scripts are.

I would like to change that to Octave starting up with the same working directory as the directory from where I’ve called octave in the terminal. I imagine this must be possible by changing both the batch file and octaverc, but I cannot figure out how.
