Disable Page Responsiveness (Single Page)

This is driving me crazy! Read through so many articles and recommendations but nothing seems to work.

I have created a page, based on the Bootstrap 2 framework. To allow a seamless refresh I load elements in from other pages using jquery.load and position them absolutely based on percentages.

In full screen mode, and on my machine it looks fine. Resizing causes the bootstrap responsiveness to kick in and the elements just get completly squashed and it all becomes a sea of mess.

I have tried editing our site.css file and adding this:

.container-non-responsive {
  margin-left: auto;
  margin-right: auto;
  padding-left: 15px;
  padding-right: 15px;
  width: 1170px;
}

The placing the whole of the main page within that Div tag, try shrinking the page and it still completely ignore that!

Can somebody help me just make this page present as I want it, and if the window changes size it simply places scroll bars and leaves the positionings all untouched.

Thanks,

Ryan.
